My Introduction

Hello, my name is Tamie. I am 37 years old and a divorced mother of two wonderful boys. Their ages are 10 and 18. I am currently attending Kaplan University Online. I am working towards becoming a Medical Assisstant. I am in my 4th term and I am loving the whole experience. I was a horrible student when I went to high school. I am relieved to find that I make a much better college student. I have been able to stay on the Dean's List and I couldn't be more proud of myself.
In my spare time I like to be with my family and friends. They are very important to me. I was raised by my grandparents, so I have old fashioned values. they taught me to be respectful to everyone, love often, and have a lot of fun along the way. We didn't have much when I was little, but what we did have was each other and they made that enough. I will never be able to thank them enough for everything they have done for me.
The past 5 years have been real rough for me. I got a divorce in 2005. My oldest son had a lot of trouble with peer pressure in high school. This in turn landed him in re-hab and eventually in jail. He spent a year in jail and he was released in October 2009. Since he's been home he has showed me and the rest of the family how much he grew up while he was in jail. He has become a very respectable young man and I am so very proud of him. He completely turned his life around. He even recieved his G.E.D. while in jail. I think that's partly why I decided to get a better education.
My youngest son has been a joy. He is doing well in school and we have fun together. We spend time watching our favorite shows together. One of our favorite shows is on the SyFy Channel. We get excited when that day comes every week.
Well, I hope that I haven't bored you with the details of my life.
Until next time,
Tamie

  1. Tamie,
what a beautiful post. (hope that is the right term to use) I too came from a difficult family. I was raised by my sister and her husband after my mom passed. I had one of those great fathers who hit the door the first chance he got. My sister although young, did a great job with me. She brought me up with respect to others as well as myself. I had different rules that at the time did seem unresonable. (of course now that I am a mother, they seem to be GREAT rules LOL) It is great that your son has a good turning point in his life, Sounds like he has a great family to help him out. congrats to you for hanging in there with him, sometimes thats all the kids need. Good luck to you, it really sounds like your heading in the right direction yourself.

  2. Hello Tamie,

Your such a brave woman. Keep your mind on school and your family. Make sure your son says on the right track. I am sure you will have a good future. The last 3 yrs has been tough on me as well, but through prayer everything will work out just fine. Good luck in your courses.

  3. Hello Tamie, my name is Cindy and I am from WI, you are only 1 term behind me, I started last July and on my fifth term. The time goes so fast, I already got a notice to sign up for clinicals. I am looking forward to that because that means I am 1 step closer to graduation. I wish you lots of luck in your schooling, and compliment you on going back to school.
