Final Blog

Well, this is our final week of required blogging. I am so relieved that it is over. I just can't get the hang of this. The advice that I would give a new student for their writing assignment would be to start early and work on it often. Any time you have a free moment, would be best. Take your time researching the topic you chose to write about. There is a lot of information available to you via the internet, so make sure that you are getting the correct information. You could even keep valuable information on a flash drive so you don't lose it. You can work on this a couple hours a week and this should be enough time to get it done but also not get burnt out working on this. Make sure that the paper flows well from paragraph to paragraph. Make sure that you are citing everything that you use from another source. Finally, make sure that you understand the APA format for your references. It is important to give recognition where recognition is due.
I would like to take the time to thank our professor, Julie Pal. She has done a wonderful job with this course and she will be missed. Goodbye Everyone, and Good Luck!!!

Week 9

Hello All,
Well, it's week 9 and we're almost finished with this term. It has gone by so quickly. I am pleased to be finished with both of my final projects. I still have a problem with the references and the APA format, but I hope that I have them right. There were a lot of interesting topics and papers. I will read all of them and maybe even use one of the topics for another paper if I have to write another one in the future.
This weekend I will be hosting a birthday party for my son who just turned 11 on the 5th of July. Things have changed so much from when I was 11. I used to be outside everyday during summer. I would play baseball with my friends, go swimming at my grandma's house, or ride my bike around town. My son is a game fanatic. He's always playing a game either on the X-Box or on the computer. He doesn't even really want to go outside. All of his friends meet on a certain game on the internet and play together. I guess that's how it is to be social for kids today. Well, I'll close for now, everyone have a great week.

Week 8

Hello everyone,
I can't believe we're almost done with this term. The time seems to just fly by. This term I have had trouble with the argument that I should use in my final paper, the introduction, and the conclusion. I have a hard time summing up the paper in just a few words. I have learned that it can be done and I will finish this paper ( even if it kills me, lol ). I really like the comments that everyone left for me. I read every one of them and take them into consideration. I have had a lot of fun in this class and I really like my fellow students. I am going to miss all of you, including our professor. This has been a great learning experience for me. I don't plan on continuing with the blog. I don't really like doing them. I know some people just love to blog, but I'm not one of them. I hope everyone has a great 4th of July holiday. Everyone stay safe!!!

Week 7 WOW!!!

Hello Everyone,
Can you believe it, we're almost done with this term. We only have 3 more blogs to do after this one. It's going by so fast (don't blink). I think that I will write about the peer criticism. I like to have people tell me truthfully what they think of my work. This way I can improve on it. I know that there's always room for improvement. It may be hard to hear sometimes, but I think that it will make me a better student and person. Sometimes I may not agree with it, but I still listen to it. I hope that everyone tells me what they think truthfully about my blogs and my final project. I will do the same for everyone else. Have a great week and I'll see you on the discussion board.

What's next?...

Hello all,
Just an update on everything that has happened within the last 2 months. My nephew had surgery to remove a b.b. that was in his foot. After surgery he aspirated so this gave him pneumonia. He was in the hospital for 3 days after his surgery. He finally got to come home on a Sunday. When he got home he was pretty careful with his foot, for about a day. By the next day he was up and on it so much that he pulled a stitch out. He was lucky that the Dr. said that it was going to heal fine on it's own. PHEW!!! Well, after that my boys found out that their step-mom went into early labor. She and the baby are doing fine. She's still pregnant, but on bed rest. That was a scary time for them. They are now just counting down the days until their baby sister gets here. That should be around the middle of July. My youngest son has a birthday coming up, he'll be 11( wow, where does the time go). I'll update more later.

My Personal Writing Process

Hello All,
My personal writing process consists of
1) research
2) making notations of information for later
3) brainstorming
4) free writing.
When I do my research, I like to mark the information that I would potentially use. Then I go over that information and create my own ideas by brainstorming. After I brainstorm I use the free writing technique to make sentences out of my ideas. After all of that I put my information in an order that I like and write my first draft. This is the easiest way for me to write. This way I can make sure that the information that I provide is correct. I hope this makes sense to you.

Plagiarism Stinks

Hello all,
I thought that I had better write about one of the things listed in the blog section of our week 4 page. I will talk about how plagiarism stinks. People don't realize sometimes that they are doing it. When this happens it's not meant to steal anyone's thunder. It is simply an accident and if they are told of this they can correct the situation. Then you have people who do this on purpose. These are the people who want to take credit for someone else's work so they don't have to work as hard themselves. It's not hard to cite something when we use it. We all need to be aware of where and who our sources are and always cite what you have written if you think that someone else has written it before you. "When in doubt, cite." It doesn't hurt to have a lot of them. Just make sure that you don't overindulge. Make sure your own ideas get in the writing as well. After all, that's what you're readers are looking for. If they wanted to read someone else's work, they would. That's all for today and I'll see you next week.
